the rain in dane is dripping from our brains

KD and I woke this morning, looking forward to fresh coffee and a lazy morning in. She entered her kitchen before I did. What I heard was her voice in an anxious "Aiiiiiiaiaiaiii" shriek. Oh dear.

The management company who owns the building she lives in seems to be slightly less concerned about the ongoing multiple leaking issues in multiple rooms of her apartment. Months ago and after water began pouring into one of the bedroom ceilings, she contacted the management co. who told her it wasn't their responsibility to reimburse her for any of the damages. "That's why you have renter's insurance, right?"

In the past three years she's been renting the place and has been reporting each problem as it develops, the master bedroom with its two walls of windows have flooded, as has the ceiling in the second bedroom, two spots in the kitchen and the cracks appear to be breeding along nearly all the ceilings and several of the walls.

And the list doesn't stop there. The old electrical system shorts things out, causes chandeliers to spark and sizzle and has caused her to give up using the wired electrical wall and ceiling fixtures for the potential fire hazard it may be creating.

It really really bothers me that being polite and being patient occasionally don't seem to help rectify problems. And aside from anything else, it really really bothers me that a company owning an historic old mansion would let it go to crap without making the (more expensive, more thorough) necessary repairs to ensure the structure and safety of the place, and without apology or explanation to their responsible renters.

Electrical and Wired Network Access

Electrical and Wired Network Access

The new tables have a wire management solution allowing us to pull the electric and network cables from the floor and make them easily accessible at the table level. Overall, there are 8 network connections and 8 electrical outlets available at the table. Three of the network ports and electrical outlets are in use by the existing iMacs. One network port and electrical outlet will be needed for the large screen plasma and the Mac mini instructor station when it is use in this area. The remaining network outlets and electrical outlets are available for our users. They can use the network ports to connect their personal devices, like a laptop to the Internet, allowing them access to the wealth of health information freely available through the web as well as to the licensed content the library has subscribed. The additional electrical outlets can be used to power their personal electronic devices.
